Passenger plane skidded off runway in Mahshahr

According to reports from Iran, a Caspian Airlines passenger plane, which was en route from Tehran to Mahshahr, was unable to control itself on the runway due to a technical malfunction and overshot the runway at Mahshahr Airport.

ISNA news agency quoted Mohsen Beiranvand, commander of Mahshahr, as reporting that the plane was leaving Tehran for Mahshahr on Monday morning, February 27, and after an emergency landing, "crossed the road and made an emergency landing on the entrance street to Mahshahr, next to Nastaran Park."

The governor of Mahshahr added, "There were no injuries in this incident, and all passengers are safe and there are no problems."

Reza Jafarzadeh, a spokesman for the Civil Aviation Organization, also told Mehr News Agency that the flight "had 135 passengers," and that "none were injured and were safely taken off the plane and to the airport transit hall."

Images and videos of this plane and the exit of a number of passengers have been reflected in cyberspace.

These images show the plane on a city street.

The Islamic Republic of Iran Radio and Television Agency said the plane was "landing at Mahshahr Airport... when it hit the airport boulevard and skidded off the runway due to the plane's wheels not opening."

Tasnim news agency says the plane was a Boeing MD. McDonnell Douglas MD is a Boeing satellite company.

The accident occurred a day before, when statements were published on social media about the engine of the Tehran-Gorgan flight catching fire and injuring some passengers. However, the Director General of Golestan Province's airports denied these reports, saying, "The plane traveled about 200 meters on the runway, but due to vibrations felt in the engine, the pilot stopped the flight."

On February 25, it was reported that an Iran Air Tour flight from Tehran to Istanbul returned to Tehran due to a technical fault and landed at Mehrabad Airport.
