Coronavirus in Iran: Increase in hospitalizations and deaths of five children

As the number of hospitalized coronavirus patients increases daily, Iran's health minister has called for the completion of vaccinations and the cessation of parties, emphasizing that the sixth wave will continue for the next few weeks. An official in West Azerbaijan has reported the deaths of five children.

In his latest reaction to the increasing number of coronavirus cases, Iranian Health Minister Bahram Einollahi emphasized the need to complete three doses of vaccination and comply with health protocols, referring to the presence of a sixth wave and its continuation "for the next two or three weeks."

Iran's health minister on Friday urged people to complete their vaccinations and to stop parties and family gatherings. He also said he did not recommend going to restaurants or wearing masks.

The secretary of the West Azerbaijan University Headquarters for Combating Coronavirus told reporters that five children under the age of five in this province have died from coronavirus in the past week.

The Deputy Minister of Health for Medical Affairs also told ILNA news agency on Thursday that the number of in-person outpatient visits has currently reached 60,000 people and the number of daily hospitalizations has reached 4,000 people per day.

Meanwhile, hospitals and medical centers have reported a significant increase in the number of outpatients and hospitalized cases in recent days.

Kamal Heydari, Deputy Minister of Health of the Iranian Ministry of Health, announced on Wednesday, February 10, the rapid increase in the number of patients infected with the Omicron strain of the coronavirus in Iran.

While calling for public participation in containing the disease, Heydari said that "the preparedness of health centers has increased since the Delta strain," but the need for public cooperation remains high.

According to the Ministry of Health, the total number of coronavirus deaths in Iran has reached 133,437, and the total number of patients has reached 6,761,855.
