India's National Commission for Minorities urges federal government to provide security for Christians

India's National Commission for Minorities has written a letter to the federal government asking it to implement security measures to protect Christians.
In recent days, right-wing Hindu activist Adesh Soni had posted violent calls on social media with provocative statements to launch an anti-Christian movement, and these threats caused great concern among the Christian community in India.
According to the Catholic News Agency, on February 25, the National Commission for Minorities, in a letter addressed to the federal government, expressed concern about the threats made and referred to threatening posts on social media and the formation of an anti-Christian movement aimed at killing them, and called on the federal government to take necessary measures to protect Christians in the state of Chhattisgarh.
"EC Michael," the director of the United Christians organization, which reported the threats to the Minorities Commission, wrote, referring to the posts published by Adesh Soni: "Despite the threats, the United Christians organization will continue to record and report cases of persecution of Christians in India."
In his posts, Adesh had called on Hindus to rape and kill Christians. He also posted a video of himself speaking at a religious gathering, announcing plans for a demonstration against Christians on March 1.
In addition to Adesh Soni, Hindu religious leaders Shankaracharya Avimukteswaran and Saraswati also openly emphasized the massacre of Christians in this video and called on Hindus to take action against them, but Soni later called the published videos and posts fake and stated that the publication of these materials was a conspiracy against him.
The director of the United Christians organization also stated that the threatening videos have caused fear and panic among Christians across India and that his organization has been forced to seek help from the Minorities Commission. He also stated that there is an anti-Christian atmosphere in the state of Chhattisgarh where Christians are constantly attacked in addition to social sanctions.
