Officials have not yet responded to reports of his arrest.
Meanwhile, Hassan Ronaghi tweeted that "my brother has not been heard from since he left home this morning. According to some friends, he has been contacted several times by an unknown organizational number."
He added: "Whatever happens to Hussein, the Supreme Leader's Household, the IRGC, and the Judiciary are responsible."
Civil activist Majid Tavakoli also tweeted that "there has been no news of Hossein Ronaghi since this morning, and his family and we (his friends) are very worried."
He added: "Hossein is a hero of freedom and has worked harder than anyone for internet freedom in these two decades. He has always been courageous, the voice of the people, and has fought for democracy, human rights, and a free Iran."
In his last Twitter post, published on Tuesday, Hossein Ronaghi criticized the so-called "protection" plan for the internet in a parliamentary commission, describing it as based on the "opinion and desire" of the Leader of the Islamic Republic.
This civil activist wrote: "If you cannot write the truth about the Internet protection and censorship plan, do not spread dirt on the truth. The protection plan is a decision of the entire system based on the opinion and desire of the Leader of the Islamic Republic, who said: "Cyberspace must be managed." Reformists and fundamentalists were both executors and followers of the order in this cycle!"
In another tweet, he expressed his belief that "the government basically has a problem with the free flow of information and free dissemination of information, and it is doing its best to ensure that there is no such thing as the 'Internet'!"
Mr. Ronaghi added: "The government's task is clear, so we must know who around us plays a role in censorship and suppression!"
Hossein Ronaghi was first arrested in 2009 after protests against the results of the presidential election and was sentenced to 15 years in prison by the Revolutionary Court on charges of membership in the Iran Proxy Network, insulting the leadership, and insulting then-President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
He was released from prison in September 2015 due to his deteriorating physical condition, but in March of the same year, he was summoned to Evin Prosecutor's Office again and arrested.
