UNESCO included the cities of Sanandaj and Bandar Abbas in the list of creative cities of the world

The city of Sanandaj, the capital of Iran's Kurdistan Province, is one of 66 cities that the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has designated as "Creative Cities."
Sanandaj is known as a city with new ideas in the field of music.
The Kamkarha Family Band is one of the most famous musical groups from the city of Sanandaj, which has kept Kurdish folk songs alive and brought them to the ears of a wide range of people.
This is despite the fact that teaching the mother tongue is one of the important demands of Kurds in Iran.
From Iran, the city of Bandar Abbas has also been selected as a creative city in the field of handicrafts and folk art.
“Around the world, each of these cities has, in turn, placed culture not as a sideline, but as a pillar of their strategy,” says UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay. “This contributes to political and social innovation, and is particularly important for the younger generation.”
