A pilot critical of flight safety was arrested in Iran

A pilot critical of the state of aircraft safety in Iran has been arrested. Pilot Amin Amirsadeghi had recently criticized the state of flight safety on a television program, but it is not clear what reason or charge he was arrested for.
Pilot Amin Amirsadeghi announced his arrest by Haft Chenar Police Station 111 on Sunday via Instagram Live, expressing regret that he was being arrested “for the lives of the people.” Mr. Amirsadeghi did not elaborate on the details of his charges, and the short video ended with a police officer recording the arrest on his cellphone.
He recently appeared on the Islamic Republic's Channel 3 program "Hala Khorshid" and stated that some airlines in Iran force pilots to fly despite technical defects.
Amir Sadeghi, for example, explained that he had the experience of flying for three weeks without brakes on plane No. 3. This was because technical officials disabled the no-fly warning system instead of repairing the brakes.
Captain Amir Sadeghi also said that he and several other pilots had defied this compulsion and refused to fly unsafe aircraft.
Amin Amirsadeghi's appearance on the live TV program came after his revelations on social media, and Mr. Amirsadeghi said on the program that he has a contract with Sepehran Airlines as a pilot until the end of the year. Previously, he was referred to as a "fired pilot" on some social media.
According to the Flight Safety Network, Iranian airlines have seen 31 fatal crashes since 1989. In comparison, British Airways has experienced only two crashes during this period.
