A labor activist from Sanandaj was sentenced to 6 years in prison.

In recent days, Kamran Sahneghgar, a labor activist from Sanandaj, was sentenced to 6 years in prison by the city's Revolutionary Court.

The Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners announced on Tuesday, December 9, that this labor activist, who was previously arrested in September of this year by agents of the Sanandaj Intelligence Department, has been sentenced to six years in prison by the First Branch of the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court, headed by Judge Hossein Saeedi, on charges of "collaborating with one of the Kurdish opposition parties of the Iranian government" and "propaganda against the system."

It is not clear to VOA which Kurdish party opposed to the Islamic Republic of Iran these citizens are members of.

According to this report, Kamran Sahaktgar was sentenced to five years in prison for the charge of "collaborating with one of the Kurdish opposition parties of the Iranian government" and one year in prison for the charge of "propaganda against the system." According to Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, which allows for the concatenation of sentences, only five years of this sentence will be enforceable.

This labor activist was arrested by intelligence agents on September 4 of this year and was temporarily released from Sanandaj Central Prison after 85 days on bail of 200 million Tomans pending the completion of the inspection process.

Previously, the Voice of America reported that two other Kurdish citizens from Urmia, Shirvan Soleimannejad and Shaida Najafiana, were sentenced to a total of 10 years in prison by the Revolutionary Court on charges of "membership in a Kurdish opposition party."
