20% of the Iranian population suffers from mental disorders.

The Deputy Minister of Health, Health and Medical Education said: "On average, we expect between 18 and 22 percent of the population in each region to suffer from one of the mental disorders, such as depression or anxiety, which are identified and cared for based on the national program through active screening. Of course, these statistics are different for each mental disorder and in different places."
He said: "The way to find people with mental disorders is that people who visit health centers to receive any type of service are screened for their mental health status."
