United Voice for Boycotting June 2021 Elections

A number of civil and political activists from 50 cities and 25 provinces of Iran, through a letter, called on the people to boycott the 2021 presidential elections in order to prevent the continuation of a government that is opposed to the people. The content of this letter, which has been signed by survivors of victims of nationwide protests, religious minorities, and civil and political activists, is as follows:
To the Great Nation of Iran
United Voice for Boycotting the June 2021 Elections
and a Non-Violent Transition from the Islamic Republic
to a Government of the People, by the People, and for the People
Dear Compatriots,
We, the signatories of this letter, represent a spectrum of the Iranian nation, from dissidents, believers, and followers of different faiths, to diverse ethnicities and lineages from various provinces, cities, and villages across our beloved country. We are your children, millions of Iranian citizens who have become victims of corruption, violence, and the incompetence of the Islamic Republic’s rule of the jurist and the closed, dictatorial constitutional system.
We humbly and kindly ask our esteemed compatriots to unite with us to safeguard Iran’s national interests and preserve the lives and property of the people, to achieve a non-violent and peaceful transition from the chaotic system of the rule of the jurist and the anti-human imposed constitution of its system toward a secular democratic constitution based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, under the banner of the Democratic Secular National Solidarity Movement. We call for a boycott of the ceremonial presidential elections of the Islamic Republic on June 28, 2021, so that the current anti-people government does not continue.
The world today, witnessing widespread popular protests over the past 42 years that were severely suppressed, particularly in the last 12 years, from the June 2009 uprising, to December 2017 and November 2019 until today, has witnessed the will of “us,” the people of Iran, in opposition to the system of theocratic plunderers of the Islamic Republic (rule of the jurist – Ali Khamenei and his constitution) and our aspiration to achieve a democratic and universal constitution.
The foundations of human rights and the interests of the Iranian nation for coexistence in democratic alignment with neighboring countries and other nations of the world are in no way negotiable, and the world must understand this matter well.
We firmly say that the part of the international community that stands alongside the Democratic Secular National Solidarity Movement of Iran and is not seeking to trade the nation’s interests with the theocratic plunderers of the Islamic Republic at the negotiating table will remain in the historical memory of the Iranian nation and be true friends and allies of democratic Iran.
Dear Compatriots, the widespread boycott of the false and staged presidential elections by the masses of the Iranian people expresses our will and voting in alignment with the National Solidarity Movement. This movement, with a firm resolve to replace the Islamic Republic’s apartheid constitution with a new democratic constitution that guarantees the unconditional implementation of human rights for every citizen of our country, is accordingly based on the creation of the following conditions:
1. Removal of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei,
2. Holding a referendum for the dissolution of the Islamic Republic’s constitution,
3. Creating necessary and sufficient conditions for holding free and fair elections in the transitional period under the supervision of impartial organizations such as the United Nations to form a constituent assembly,
4. Drafting a new constitution for the country by the constituent assembly, based on the following values:
- The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted December 10, 1948, and all its conventions and covenants,
- Separation of religion from government based on complete respect for all religions, beliefs, and dissidents,
- Equality of citizens’ rights for all nations of Iran regardless of belief, gender, ethnicity, and lineage before the law,
- Equality of women’s rights with men in all spheres of life and politics,
- Freedom of thought and expression, freedom of press and media,
- Freedom of association and political party activity, trade unions of workers, industrialists, artists, writers, and others,
- Establishment of a free economy based on social justice and prohibition of any kind of monopoly, creation of equal opportunities for all citizens,
- Pursuit of peaceful foreign policy and constructive diplomatic relations based on national interests, commitment to and respect for international law and order to maintain peace, security and stability in the region and throughout the world, and commitment to the non-proliferation protocol for nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons.
The realization of these ideals rests on the shoulders of all sectors of Iranian society, including professionals, artists, journalists, educators, workers, athletes, enlightened clergy, and government officials to join in this national path and in support of the National Solidarity Movement with the Iranian people to boycott the elections and achieve a non-violent transition from the Islamic Republic system. This is for all people regardless of gender, religion, ethnicity, and our beliefs – the Republic of Iran.
To the Iranian Armed Forces:
Each of you is a proud son or daughter of Iranian soil, a father, mother, brother, sister, friend, acquaintance, and neighbor of the people and a member of the Iranian family. We call upon you, guardians of this land and soil, to join the National Solidarity Movement for a non-violent transition from the Islamic Republic to a democratic-secular government. “We, the nation of Iran,” have been struggling for over a century to achieve democracy and human rights, and we deserve decent living conditions and a bright future for everyone.
From the bitter memory of 1979, we learned that revenge, purging of opponents, executions, spread of hatred, and violence have destroyed the cultural, moral, economic, political, and social foundations of our country. Iran, this ancient human civilization sitting on vast wealth of natural and human resources, has reached global isolation in misery and poverty under the Islamic Republic. We, as a nation, from committed opponents to government bodies, have all been trapped in the bitter captivity of the theocratic plunderers of the Islamic Republic.
Post-Islamic Republic Iran will be governed within a framework of the rule of law based on human rights. No citizen will be arrested or imprisoned because of political or ideological beliefs. State murders and execution sentences will be completely eliminated, and revenge and enmity will depart from among us. Those who have bloodied their hands in crimes against the Iranian people will be accountable to the Iranian people through an independent civil democratic judicial system and will be dealt with fairly.
We signatories of this letter, with the help of one another, from merchants to intellectuals, from workers and laborers to entrepreneurs, from thinkers and cultural figures to armed forces, united and to our last breath, will remain steadfast in the path of the Democratic Secular National Solidarity Movement for the establishment of the rule of law based on democracy and human rights values. Without doubt, we, the people of Iran, will achieve victory, and a united Iran will once again play a fundamental role based on diplomacy, friendship, and cooperation with the free world in promoting peace and stability in the global village.
With humility and most loving wishes
