Donald Trump Expresses Satisfaction with Negotiations with Islamic Republic over Nuclear Program

Donald Trump announced his satisfaction with negotiations with the Islamic Republic over the nuclear program.

Donald Trump, President of the United States, stated on Monday, April 21, that the United States has had very good discussions with Iran.

He also spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu in a phone call today regarding a ceasefire in Gaza and the subject of Iran’s nuclear negotiations. Netanyahu had announced at the end of his visit to America in a video message that he and Donald Trump both agree on Iran not having nuclear weapons. Netanyahu had stated in this message: “This can be done with an agreement. But only if that agreement is similar to the Libya model in which all nuclear facilities are destroyed and all equipment is eliminated under American supervision and implementation.”

Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister and member of the Iranian negotiating delegation, said yesterday while noting that both negotiating sides are currently extracting the general principles of negotiations: “The basis of sanctions, namely the congressional sanctions laws and the executive orders of the American President, must definitely be lifted.”

Donald Trump has repeatedly stated in various messages that his only desire is to prevent the Islamic Republic’s access to nuclear weapons and warned that if the Islamic Republic does not agree with America over the nuclear program, Iran will be bombed. Officials of the Islamic Republic have also repeatedly stated in response to Trump’s demands that dismantling the nuclear program is a red line for the Islamic Republic.

The Guardian newspaper also wrote about negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program: “In the recent negotiations, two main issues are at stake: determining the fate of high-enriched uranium stockpiles and obtaining guarantees to prevent a repeat of America’s withdrawal from the agreement.”

According to UN Security Council Resolution 2231, countries party to the JCPOA can activate the so-called snapback mechanism before October 17 of the current year (2025) to immediately restore all UN sanctions against Iran.

The negotiations over the nuclear program, which began on April 13 and have completed the second round, are scheduled to hold the third round of negotiations next week in Oman.
