Reza Kianian: Women’s Citizenship Right to Not Wear Hijab

Reza Kianian spoke about women’s citizenship right regarding not wearing hijab at a tribute ceremony for Atila Pesyani.

Reza Kianian, a cinema actor, at the eighteenth edition of the Directors’ Night ceremony, which coincided with a tribute to Atila Pesyani, spoke in support of women and in opposition to mandatory hijab: “We have different ways that we can take to the stage that are compatible with the issue of women not observing hijab. One cannot force someone to observe hijab. It is women’s citizenship right to not wear hijab.”

He continued by referring to very devout people in the world and said: Our devout people do not even come close to them, but they have found solutions in this regard, so we too can find a solution. We should not only not abandon the stage, but we must always keep the stage full. The ruling wants us to fail, but we should not abandon the stage.

The issue of hijab, which led to the death of Mahsa Amini and was the reason for the start of Iran’s popular revolutionary uprising, remains a subject of discussion for the Islamic Republic system and has further mobilized all people for the victory of this revolution, to the extent that every day the number of people joining the protest against mandatory hijab increases.
