Official Oil Industry Employees Join Strikes

Official and shift workers at the National Iranian Oil Company have joined nationwide strikes. They expressed their protest over unfulfilled demands by refusing to eat at the oil company’s restaurant.

In the past, many truckers initiated widespread strikes. Similarly, workers at Iran’s National Oil Company, National Gas Company, and Petrochemical Company warned security institutions in October of this year that if the suppression of protesting citizens continues, all employees in this broad industry will join strikes. Finally, today the Telegram channel “Organizing Council of Contracted Oil Workers’ Protests” published a report on the fourth day of protests by oil company employees.

According to this report, in addition to employees of the National Oil Company in Asaluyeh and Ahvaz, workers from Aghajari Oil and Gas Operating Company, Zagros Oil and Gas, several oil drilling rigs, joined the protesters at South Pars Fifth Refinery, Dalan Operational Region, and Arvandan Oil and Gas Company.

The Organizing Council of Contracted Oil Workers’ Protests emphasizes the formation of protests and widespread strikes across all sectors of the oil industry in various cities.

Iran, whose greatest wealth comes from oil resources which the Islamic Republic exports to other countries, will experience another heavy blow with this broad industrial strike by oil sector employees.
