IRGC Commander: Street Warfare Was a Global Scenario

Hossein Salami, commander-in-chief of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), attributed nationwide public protests to the “enemy,” threatened Saudi Arabia, the United States, and Israel with a reckoning, and said Trump set up a command center in the White House to defeat the Iranian nation.

The IRGC commander-in-chief, speaking at a gathering of Iranian government supporters held on Monday afternoon, December 25th in Tehran’s Revolution Square, said among other things: “Believe me, the war that started in our streets these days was a global scenario. This war is over and you acted precisely. When you should not have joined the enemy’s infantry, you nobly separated your ranks, and today when you needed to come to the scene, you came, the enemy collapsed, and Islam prevailed.”

Hossein Salami stated that the “enemy” could not create an incident for months but was waiting: “The enemy even tried to use baby diapers and resorted to diapers to torment the Iranian nation. Gasoline was an excuse and he was searching for Iran’s defeat…”

He linked the absence of the U.S. president from a congressional impeachment hearing to public demonstrations in recent days, saying: “The enemy saw that when it came to the scene it would set everything on fire… Trump did not come to Congress and stayed in the White House and set up a command center to defeat the great nation of Iran.”

Commander Salami threatened that the Islamic Republic would settle accounts with all its enemies and, addressing the United States, Britain, Israel, and the Saudi family, said: “You tested us in the field… You received firm blows and could not respond. Some of these blows the whole world saw. Some did not see. Wait. If you cross our red lines, we will destroy you.”

In Monday rallies across Iran held in various cities, participants, while supporting the leader of the Islamic Republic, chanted against “rioters.” Media and official Islamic Republic officials call those who took to the streets in recent days “rioters.”

Previously, the commander of operations of the Basij organization also described nationwide protests in Iran as “full-scale global warfare” and said: “Only God saved us.”

Salar Abnoosh said on November 30th in a speech: “Full-scale global warfare was waged against the system and the revolution, and fortunately its newborn died at the moment of birth.”

This Basij commander, like the IRGC commander, attributed the presence of people in the streets to a “coalition of devils” and mentioned a “mixed paste” with the participation of Israel, the United States, and Saudi Arabia.
