This comes as a report published by Reuters news agency stated that the number of soldiers to be deployed to the Middle East to strengthen America’s military and defensive capabilities is five thousand personnel.

The plan to deploy more soldiers to the Middle East has not yet been approved. Therefore, two informed sources in the Department of Defense who leaked this news to media outlets were unwilling to reveal their identities.

Trump and Strengthening U.S. Defensive Capabilities in the Region

Associated Press views the deployment of more military forces to the Middle East as contradictory to Trump’s statements about reducing the number of American soldiers stationed in the region.

This is while the deployment of the aircraft carrier “USS Abraham Lincoln” as well as the deployment of several “B-52” bomber aircraft to the region and their possible stationing at the “Al-Udeid” military base in Qatar have added to the U.S. military presence in the Persian Gulf.

Patrick Shanahan, the current U.S. Secretary of Defense, and Mike Pompeo, the country’s Secretary of State, in their meetings with members of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives emphasized that America does not wish to participate in a new war in the region and all military actions of this country in the Persian Gulf waters are defensive in nature.

The Pentagon’s plan for deploying more military forces to the Middle East also emphasizes the defensive nature of these measures. It has been stated that America needs more military forces to increase its defensive capabilities as well as increase air defense systems of the Patriot type.

New Military Force Deployment Plan

News regarding the Pentagon’s plan to deploy new military forces to the Middle East was initially published by the CNN news network.

The news network had reported that the Pentagon is in discussions and negotiations with White House officials regarding the necessity of deploying thousands of new American soldiers to the Middle East.

This is while Patrick Ryder, spokesman for the Joint Chiefs of Staff and one of the commanders of the country’s Air Force, regarding the Department of Defense’s possible plan to deploy forces to the Middle East, merely stated that the U.S. Army, within the framework of its current policy, refrains from commenting and speculating about possible operations and future military actions.

Democratic representatives in the U.S. Congress are concerned that an increase in U.S. military presence in the Persian Gulf could lead to a new war.
