Hamed Esmaeilion Protests Iran’s Naming of Vehicle After His Late Daughter

Hamed Esmaeilion, spokesman for the families of victims of Flight PS752, has protested Iran Khodro’s decision to name its new vehicle “Rira.”

Esmaeilion, who lost his wife and daughter in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ missile strike on the Ukrainian passenger aircraft, tweeted: “Names and words belong to the people, and names and words become debased and shameful in the hands of dictators.”

Stating that “Iran Khodro is making a vehicle named Rira that will be unveiled by the minister of industry, the judge of death,” he said: “It must be that their choice of names, like their shooting down of the plane, is accidental, and the goddess of verdure of Mazandaran’s forests and that little girl who should have been finishing sixth grade today have all been destroyed by mere coincidence.”

Esmaeilion, referring to the removal of the name “Rira” from the civil registry one year after his daughter’s birth, emphasized: “Suddenly they become interested in this name and name their death carriage Rira.”

Rira Esmaeilion and her mother Parisa Aqbalian were two of the 176 passengers aboard Flight PS752 who lost their lives when the Revolutionary Guard’s missiles struck the Ukrainian international aircraft on December 9, 2020, in Tehran’s airspace.
