Bushehr; Worker Attempted Suicide Following Non-Payment of Wages

A worker at Payandane Oil and Gas Company attempted to take his own life by pouring gasoline on himself at the company’s project site in Bushehr Province due to non-payment of his wage claims, but the attempt was prevented by other workers.

According to Hrana News Agency, citing the Free Union of Iranian Workers, a worker at Payandane Oil and Gas Company at the company’s project site in Bushehr Province intended to end his life due to non-payment of wage claims and poor living conditions.

Based on this report, during a recent protest gathering by workers of Payandane Oil and Gas Company, which took place following non-payment of wage claims and poor living conditions, one of the company’s workers poured gasoline on himself and intended to end his life, but was prevented from carrying out this act by other company workers.

It is worth noting that workers at Payandane Oil and Gas Company have not received any wages for more than 5 months and have repeatedly resorted to strikes and protests in opposition to these conditions.
