June 13 Rally Held in Protest Against Municipality’s Actions at Aichi Cemetery in Saqqez

The people of Saqqez have organized a major rally for June 13 in protest against the municipality’s actions at the “Aichi” cemetery in Saqqez.

The Islamic Republic system and its agents resort to any measure to disrupt people’s unity and prevent the Women, Life, Freedom revolution, seeking to deter citizens from gatherings and the continuation of the revolutionary uprising. The Saqqez municipality and city council have decided to make illegal alterations to the aforementioned cemetery with the aim of removing the grave of the eternal Mahsa (Jina) Amini from public view.

These illegal measures and actions include removing temporary structures and blocking the vehicle entrance road to Aichi Cemetery. To this end, the people of Saqqez issued a statement and, while pointing to the municipality’s actions in collaboration with the city council to make the aforementioned changes to Aichi Cemetery, announced that on Tuesday, June 13, they will hold a peaceful protest gathering.

It should be noted that the statement emphasizes that the lands of Aichi Cemetery were donated by charitable people, and the municipality has no right to make alterations to the cemetery or close vehicle roads to it. The people of Saqqez also stressed that the municipal and city council mafia must respond to citizens’ demands without resorting to violence and confrontation.

Additionally, another point mentioned in the above statement indicates that Jina Amini’s family has recently been under severe pressure and threats from government institutions regarding this matter.
