Self-Immolation of 16-Year-Old Teenager in Sardasht

Hrana News Agency – In recent days, a 16-year-old teenage girl in Sardasht city committed self-immolation. The teenager died as a result of severe injuries and burns.
According to Hrana News Agency, the news organization of human rights activists in Iran, in recent days, a 16-year-old teenage girl in Sardasht city committed self-immolation.
The identity of this teenager has been confirmed by Hrana as “Farzaneh Ebrahimzadeh, 16 years old, daughter of Mohammad Ebrahimzadeh and Kezhel Shoukeh, resident of Kani Rash village in Sardasht city.”
An informed source told Hrana in this regard: “This teenager committed suicide in Kani Rash village under Sardasht and died as a result of severe injuries and burns.”
At the time of preparing this report, there is no precise information available regarding the reasons for this teenager’s self-immolation.
Self-immolation is one of the most violent and painful methods of suicide. This suicide method is mainly prevalent in the western and northwestern regions of Iran. Based on the report of Iran’s Forensic Medicine Organization in the year 1380 (Persian calendar), among deceased individuals from suicide, self-immolation was the most important method of suicide (69.29%) among women.
The share of Iranian teenagers in annual suicides has been reported by the Forensic Medicine Organization as over 7 percent.
