Saudi Arabia: If Iran Stops Threatening Regional Security, Arab Nations Will Extend Their Hand

Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister said on Monday, December 2, that if Iran stops threatening the security and stability of the region, Arab nations will extend their hand toward it.
Prince Faisal bin Farhan, who is visiting Amman, the capital of Jordan, said in a joint press conference with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman al-Safadi that Iran’s support for terrorist militias and the pursuit of a nuclear weapons program are among the destabilizing factors in the region.
According to Saudi Gazette, the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia and Jordan discussed and exchanged views on Iran’s “destabilizing role” in regional and global security and stability, and its support for militias.
The report adds that officials of the two countries emphasized the importance of intensifying efforts to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and establishing a Middle East free of weapons of mass destruction.
Tehran, recognized as Riyadh’s regional rival, is accused of supporting the Shiite Houthi militias in Yemen, who repeatedly fire missiles and launch drones at Saudi targets. Since 2015, Saudi Arabia has been at war with the Yemeni Houthis in support of the government of Mansour Abdo Rabbo Hadi.
