Two Environmental Journalists Killed in Bus Accident in West Azerbaijan Province

Reports from Iranian media indicate that two journalists died when a bus carrying journalists heading to Lake Urmia overturned near Naqadeh city.
The two journalists were identified as Mehshad Karimi from ISNA news agency and Reyhaneh Yasini from IRNA news agency.
Ali Moradpour, public relations officer of Naqadeh Hospital, denied reports of three deaths in the accident, stating: “One of the injured was trapped under the bus and was thought to have died, but suffered a broken leg.”
The Medical Emergency Center of West Azerbaijan University of Medical Sciences reported that 21 others were injured in the accident.
Mehr News Agency reported that two of the injured are in critical condition and 13 of them have been admitted to Naqadeh Hospital.
According to ISNA, the bus carrying a group of journalists from across the country who were heading to visit the “Kani Sib” tunnel overturned on the Urmia-Naqadeh route at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24.
The police commander of Naqadeh county told Tasnim news agency that “officials attributed the cause of this tragic accident to technical defects and brake failure in the journalists’ bus.”
