Dezful Revolutionary Court Issues Dismissal Order for Eight Christians

The Fourth Branch of the General and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office of Dezful issued a dismissal order for Alireza Roshanai Zadeh, Hojjat Lotfi, Mohsen Saadat Zadeh, Masoud Noei, Alireza Vark Shah, Mohammad Kaedgap, Mohammad Ali Torabi, and Ismail Narimanpur, eight Christians from Dezful. Alireza Vark Shah, Mohammad Kaedgap, Ismail Narimanpur, Mohammad Ali Torabi, and Hojjat Lotfi were arrested on April 20, 2021 by agents of the Ministry of Intelligence in Dezful and were released on April 21, 2021 from the security agency’s detention center in Dezful.

According to Hrana news agency, the news outlet of the Iranian Human Rights Activists Network, a dismissal order for eight Christians residing in Dezful County was issued on Tuesday, November 30, 2021.

According to this verdict issued on November 30, 2021 by the Fourth Investigation Branch of the General and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office of Dezful County under the direction of Judge Mohammad Mokhmalazdeh, Alireza Roshanai Zadeh, Hojjat Lotfi Khalaf Joei, Mohsen Saadat Zadeh, Masoud Noei, Alireza Vark Shah, Mohammad Kaedgap, Mohammad Ali Torabi Shangari, and Ismail Narimanpur, eight Christians of this county, were acquitted of the charge of “missionary activities in favor of groups opposed to the system (evangelical Christianity).”

Alireza Vark Shah, Mohammad Kaedgap, Ismail Narimanpur, Mohammad Ali Torabi, and Hojjat Lotfi Khalaf Joei were arrested on April 20, 2021 by agents of the Ministry of Intelligence in Dezful and were released on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 from the Dezful Intelligence Office.

A hearing on the charges against Alireza Vark Shah, Mohammad Kaedgap, Ismail Narimanpur, and Mohammad Ali Torabi, four Christian converts, was held on August 3 at the Dezful Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office, and following the reading of charges, they were released on bail.

The treatment of Christians in Iran occurs while according to Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Article 18 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion, and the freedom to either alone or in community with others and in public or in private to manifest his religion or belief in worship, observance, practice and teaching.
