According to Hrana news agency, citing IRNA, a 30-year-old woman in Babol was killed on grounds of honor.

Based on this report, the woman was recently pursued by her husband on suspicion of having relations with another man, and ultimately in an apartment building parking lot, she was stabbed four times in the neck and head by him, and due to the severity of her injuries, she lost her life.

During this altercation, the suspect also stabbed a man who had entered the parking lot with his wife.

Following notification of the incident to police, the suspect was identified and arrested. Further investigations into the matter are ongoing.

Honor crimes or honor killings refer to acts of violence and often the murder of women in a family by their male relatives.

These women are punished for “bringing shame to their family’s honor.” This shame includes various matters, including refusal of forced marriage, being a victim of sexual assault, divorce (even from an unsuitable husband), relations with the opposite sex, or committing adultery. For someone to become a victim of honor crimes, it is merely sufficient that it is suspected they have brought shame to the family.
