Unknown Individuals Attack Home of Women’s Rights Activist Who Exposed ‘Sexual Assault Gang in Sanandaj’ with Grenades

“Unknown individuals” attacked the family home of a women’s rights activist with grenades on Thursday morning, the first day of Mehr, in Sanandaj.
According to Hengaw, a human rights website that covers news from Kurdish-inhabited regions, the attack on the family home of Nasekeh Akhami occurred following her disclosure of the names of several members of a “multi-person sexual assault gang against women and girls” in Sanandaj.
Over the past week, several civil activists in Sanandaj, along with several active Instagram pages in the field of women’s rights, had reported on “sexual assault by a multi-person gang” against women and girls in the city of Sanandaj.
An informed source told Hengaw about Thursday morning’s attack that following this “unprecedented attack,” substantial material damage was inflicted on Ms. Akhami’s family home, causing fear and terror for her elderly parents.
A family member close to the Akhami family also told Hengaw’s correspondent that “today an unknown person contacted Nasekeh’s sister and asked her to pressure Nasekeh to disclose the identity of individuals who had sent information related to the aforementioned gang to her.”
According to this report, Ms. Akhami, a women’s rights and sexual minority activist, has been residing in Switzerland for years.
Iranian law enforcement and judicial authorities have not yet reacted to this report.
