Indian Police Seize Iranian Fishing Boat with 30 Kilograms of Heroin

Border forces and anti-terrorism police in India’s Gujarat region seized an Iranian fishing boat carrying 30 kilograms of heroin during a joint operation in Gujarat waters.
The Hindu newspaper reported on Sunday, September 28, that seven crew members of the Iranian vessel were arrested in connection with the operation. All individuals were Iranian citizens.
According to the newspaper’s report, in recent years drug smugglers from Pakistan and Iran have preferred to traffic narcotics through the Gujarat port. Between January of last year and April of this year, a total of 13 Pakistani citizens carrying narcotics were arrested in waters near Gujarat in the Arabian Sea.
