Father of Ukrainian Flight Victim: Ministry of Intelligence Asked Families Not to Speak Against Islamic Republic

Following the announcement by the Association of Families of PS752 Flight Victims regarding harassment and security pressure from Iran’s Islamic Republic on families to stop pursuing the case and seeking justice, Mehrzad Zarei provided further details to Voice of America.

Mehrzad Zarei, who lost his young son Arad Zarei after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps fired missiles at a Ukrainian passenger flight, says the Ministry of Intelligence of the Islamic Republic summoned a number of families of victims residing in Iran and demanded they commit to not speaking against the Islamic Republic.

On Tuesday, the Farsi News Agency, close to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, reported, citing Mohsen Baharvandy, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, that he told officials of the International Civil Aviation Organization that some families of the Ukrainian aircraft tragedy victims have received compensation.

This comes as Mehrzad Zarei says the Ministry of Intelligence is asking families of victims not to participate in gatherings. He said officials are telling families: “Come, we want to compensate you, but we will not back down from pursuing justice.”
