Official Coronavirus Statistics: 371 More Iranians Dead, 5,825 Patients Under Intensive Care

Iran’s Health Ministry spokesperson announced that 371 patients with coronavirus have died in the past 24 hours, stating that currently 5,825 patients are in a “severe condition” and receiving intensive care.

Sima Sadat Lari, who reported the official coronavirus statistics in Iran on Monday, December 31, announced the identification of 13,321 new patients during this period.

With the new figures included, the total number of coronavirus victims in Iran according to the Health Ministry report has reached 48,246 people, and the total number of confirmed patients has increased to 962,070.

According to Iranian Health Ministry officials, 27 provinces in Iran still remain in a “red zone” regarding coronavirus prevalence, while Hormozgan, Fars, Golestan, and Sistan and Baluchestan provinces are in “orange” and “yellow” zones.

Independent sources have repeatedly expressed doubt and skepticism about the accuracy of government statistics regarding coronavirus infections and deaths in Iran.

MohammadReza Zafarqandi, head of Iran’s Medical System Organization, previously stated that the actual number of coronavirus deaths and infections in Iran is three times higher than the official figures reported by the Health Ministry.
