Nazanin Zaghari’s Family Announces End of Her Five-Year Prison Sentence on March 7

Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe’s family announced on Tuesday, February 26, through a statement that the five-year prison sentence of this Iranian-British citizen officially ends on March 7 (17 Esfand).
The statement warns that the world is waiting to hear whether the Iranian government will release Nazanin Zaghari and allow her to return to her home in Britain, where her husband and young daughter are waiting for her.
Therefore, Ms. Zaghari’s family, in cooperation with Howl Company and Amnesty International’s office in Westminster and Bywater, have produced videos that began circulating on February 26, counting down the final 10 days of her prison sentence.
These countdown videos contain poems read by “Emma Thompson” and “Olivia Colman,” two renowned British actresses, as well as letters from Nazanin Zaghari.
In a video released on Tuesday, Olivia Colman reads a poem by Golrokh Irayi titled “For Gisoo.”
Nazanin Zaghari was detained in April 2016 while leaving Iran on espionage charges and spent several years in prison. She is currently under house arrest. Ms. Zaghari has consistently rejected such accusations and has emphasized her innocence.
