Health Ministry Responds to Hamadan Representative’s Claims: COVID-19 Treatment Claims Lack Scientific Evidence

The head of the Public Relations Center of the Ministry of Health stated that most claims related to discovering a COVID-19 cure “lack scientific evidence” or “have not gone through clinical trial procedures.”

According to ISNA, Kianush Jahanpour, responding to remarks by the Hamadan representative about discovering a coronavirus drug, emphasized that the process of approving a drug is clearly defined and the Ministry of Health “recognizes no middle ground or customized path for approving the efficacy of a claimed drug or treatment method.”.

Ahmad Hosein Fallahi, the Hamadan representative, claimed in the Sunday session of September 18 of the Islamic Consultative Assembly that “some provinces have manufactured a drug” which, according to him, “was introduced eight months ago as a definitive cure for COVID-19, but has been ignored.”.

This parliamentary representative, who brought a sample of this drug to the open session, provided no explanation about the details of this drug.

In recent months, numerous claims have been made about treating COVID-19 through traditional medicine, including consuming camel urine and violet oil, which sparked many negative reactions on social media and in scientific circles and in some cases led to the arrest of individuals making such claims.
