Names of 13 Iranians Subject to Recent US Visa Restrictions Revealed

The US State Department has released the names of Iranians who have recently been subject to visa restrictions and who, according to Washington, have assisted the “world’s most important state sponsor of terrorism” in human rights violations.

The department stated in a declaration on September 25 that its actions are in accordance with laws that authorize the Secretary of State to prevent the entry of individuals and immediate family members of those who, based on credible evidence, are believed to be “engaged in human rights violations.”

These individuals are: Sadegh Babaei, Alireza Beyani Hamadani, Saeid Danesh, Ali Hadavi, Saeid Hamti, Mohammad Reza Jazayeri, Mohsen Sharif Esfehani, Ali Moslahi Iraqi, Nasser Pour Mirzaei, Mohsen Pourshafiei, Mohammad Saeid Razavani, Mahmoud Sajadian, Yedollah Samadi.

According to this declaration, these individuals engaged in terrorist activities in Switzerland in 1990.

In April 1990, Kazem Rajavi, the brother of Massoud Rajavi, the leader of the Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization, was killed in Switzerland.

Another individual mentioned is Hojjatollah Khadaei Souri, whom the US State Department says, in his capacity as director of Evin Prison, oversaw “torture and other violence, inhumane treatment or punitive and degrading treatment” of prisoners and detainees.

Khadaei Souri had previously been subject to European Union sanctions and his name was included in the State Department’s initial declaration.

Visa restrictions were applied to 14 Iranians on August 21, but at that time the US State Department had not mentioned the names of the 13 individuals related to the Switzerland incident and had only stated that they were present in Switzerland as diplomats.

The US State Department said these 13 individuals “who posed as diplomats were acting on orders from the highest levels of their own government (the Islamic Republic) to silence the voice of opposition and demonstrate that no one is safe from the hands of the Iranian government, regardless of where they live.”

The Islamic Republic has not yet responded to these restrictions and the announcement of these names. Tehran has rejected accusations of supporting terrorism.
