Execution of Expulsion Order for Mohammad Reza Omidi, Christian Convert, to Borazjan

Mohammad Reza (Youhan) Omidi, a Christian convert, was sent to Borazjan to serve a two-year expulsion sentence. Mr. Omidi was released from Evin Prison on the 28th of Mordad after completing his two-year imprisonment sentence.

According to Hrana news agency, citing Section 18, on Monday, September 24, 1399, Mohammad Reza (Youhan) Omidi, a Christian convert, was sent to Borazjan city in Bushehr Province to serve his two-year expulsion sentence.

Mohammad Reza Omidi, along with three other Christian citizens, was arrested on April 13, 1395, during a church ceremony in Rasht by officers from the Ministry of Intelligence.

The court hearing regarding the charges against Mohammad Reza Omidi and the three other citizens was held on June 24, 1396, in Branch 26 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court. Ultimately, Mr. Omidi was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment and 2 years expulsion to Borazjan for the charge of acting against national security through promoting Christianity. The imprisonment sentence for this Christian convert was reduced to two years in the appellate court.

This citizen was ultimately released from Evin Prison on Tuesday, August 28, 1399, after completing his sentence.
