Illegal Migration Through English Channel Has Tripled

The number of migrants who illegally reached Britain through the English Channel has tripled in 2021. The British Home Office states that over 28,300 people entered the country through this route last year.
According to a report released by the British Home Office, the number of people who reached Britain by boat through the English Channel in 2021 was three times the number of such individuals in 2020.
The British Home Office stated in the report that the number of these people in 2021 exceeded 28,300. While this figure was only around 8,000 in 2020.
According to the British Home Office, most of these migrants crossed the English Channel in November despite the cold weather. The highest recorded number was on November 11 with 1,185 people.
On November 24, the sinking of a boat carrying refugees in the English Channel resulted in the deaths of 27 people. Among the victims were 16 Iraqi Kurds and four Afghans.
One of the victims was also Sirwan Alipour, a 23-year-old Iranian youth from Sardasht in West Azerbaijan Province.
Boris Johnson, the British Prime Minister, said about this that he was “horrified” by this tragedy.
