17 Hospitals in Khuzestan Lack Oxygen Generator Devices

Farhad Abolnezadian, the acting head of Jundi Shapour University of Medical Sciences in Ahvaz, referring to the widespread prevalence of coronavirus in the province, stated that at least 17 hospitals in Khuzestan province “do not have oxygen generator devices or are facing shortages.”

According to ISNA, he spoke on Sunday, July 6, at a coronavirus management headquarters meeting in Khuzestan, and referring to increased demand for oxygen generator devices, said that the supply of these devices “has faced problems from manufacturing companies” and has become an “issue” in all hospitals.

He also reported a two and a half to three-fold increase in the price of these devices.

Previously, some government officials had reported an increase in the production of oxygen generator devices and the export of these devices to other countries.

Oxygen generator devices became the subject of a verbal dispute between Mohammad Javad Zarif and Donald Trump in late April of this year.

On April 20, the President of the United States said that America has thousands of additional respiratory support devices that could be delivered to Iran’s medical sectors.

This proposal was met with a negative reaction from Zarif. He tweeted: “Iran will export respiratory support devices within the coming months” and called on Trump not to “interfere” in Iran’s affairs.
