Passenger Aircraft Veers Off Runway in Mahshahr

According to reports from Iran, a Caspian Airlines passenger aircraft traveling from Tehran to Mahshahr was unable to control itself on the runway due to a technical malfunction and veered off the Mahshahr airport runway.
ISNA news agency reported, citing Mohsen Biranvand, the governor of Mahshahr, that the aircraft departed Tehran for Mahshahr on Monday morning, the 7th of Bahman, and after an emergency landing, “crossed the road and made an emergency landing on the entrance street of Mahshahr, near Nastaran Park.”
The Mahshahr governor added that “this incident caused no injuries and all passengers are safe with no problems.”
Reza Jafarzadeh, spokesman for the Civil Aviation Organization, also told Mehr news agency that the flight “carried 135 passengers” who “suffered no injuries and safely exited the aircraft and were transferred to the airport’s transit terminal.”
Images and videos of the aircraft and some passengers exiting circulated on social media.
These images show the aircraft on a street within the city.
The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting news agency reported that the aircraft “while landing at Mahshahr airport… collided with the airport boulevard due to the landing gear not opening and veered off the runway.”
Tasnim news agency states the aircraft was a Boeing MD. McDonnell Douglas, MD, is a subsidiary company of Boeing.
This incident comes one day after posts on social media about the “catching fire” of an engine on a Tehran-Gorgan flight and injuries to some passengers. However, the director general of airports in Golestan province denied these reports, stating “the aircraft moved about 200 meters on the runway but the pilot halted the flight due to vibration felt in the engine.”
On the 5th of Bahman, it was also reported that an Iran Air Tour flight traveling from Tehran to Istanbul returned to Tehran due to a technical malfunction and landed at Mehrabad airport.
