Pharmacies on the Brink of Bankruptcy

The head of the Supreme Council of Pharmacies of the Iranian Pharmacists Association, emphasizing the necessity of paying pharmacies’ outstanding claims from the previous year by the Health Insurance Organization, said: Government officials should know that pharmacies are facing bankruptcy. The Health Insurance Organization has not only failed to settle its previous year’s claims to pharmacists, but the interview of the deputy of health services insurance of the Health Insurance Organization regarding the payment of pharmacies’ claims by September is itself a concealment of reality.
He added: According to the statement of the head of the Health Insurance Organization, the Health Insurance Organization’s debt for the previous year’s claims of medical institutions is 3,700 billion. Unfortunately, we must announce that the cause of many of the country’s drug problems is the failure of insurance organizations to pay pharmacies’ claims in a timely manner, which has driven pharmacies to bankruptcy.
