France and Germany Human Rights Award Presented to Nasrin Sotoudeh

The German ambassador in Tehran announced in a message that the joint human rights award of Germany and France has been presented to Nasrin Sotoudeh, and a representative on her behalf received this award.

Michael Klor-Berchtold, the German ambassador in Tehran, said on Monday, December 16, in a Twitter post that the award was presented to Ms. Sotoudeh’s representative in the presence of the ambassadors of France and Germany in Iran.

Nasrin Sotoudeh, a lawyer, is currently imprisoned in Evin Prison on charges such as “propaganda activities against the system.” In her latest statement, Ms. Sotoudeh called for “prosecution of the commanders and perpetrators of the massacre of protesters” during the people’s protests in November.

The U.S. State Department has repeatedly condemned violent crackdowns and widespread suppression of protesters, as well as repeated and continuous violations of the rights of Iranian citizens by the ruling regime in the country.
