Saba Kordafshariyan, Civil Activist, Sentenced to 24 Years in Prison

The defense lawyer of Saba Kordafshariyan, a civil activist in detention, announced that his client has been sentenced to a total of 24 years in prison.
Hossein Taj wrote on Twitter on Tuesday, September 5, that the Revolutionary Court sentenced Ms. Kordafshariyan to 15 years imprisonment on charges of incitement to corruption and obscenity, to 7.5 years imprisonment on charges of assembly and conspiracy with the intention of committing crimes against national security, and to 1.5 years imprisonment on charges of anti-regime propaganda activities.
He also stated that other social deprivations have been imposed against Ms. Kordafshariyan and expressed his opposition to the verdict, hoping for it to be overturned.
Saba Kordafshariyan, who is also among those who protested mandatory hijab, was arrested during the protests last August, sentenced to prison, and was released last February, but was arrested again in June this year.
Raheleh Ahmadi, Ms. Kordafshariyan’s mother, was arrested after announcing last July that her daughter was under pressure for forced confession and television interviews.
The U.S. State Department has repeatedly condemned the violent conduct of the Islamic Republic regime against the Iranian people under various pretexts, including its treatment of freedom of clothing choice, as well as the repeated and continuous violations of Iranian citizens’ rights by regime agents.
