European Union Admits 33,000 Refugees

The European Union intends to open a legal and safe pathway for refugees to European countries; vulnerable individuals will not be forced to risk their lives and property for migration.
According to a program approved by the European Union, to date more than 32,700 refugees from the Middle East and North Africa have entered European territory.
According to Dimitris Avramopoulos, European Union Commissioner for Migration, Asylum and Integration, approximately 4,100 of these have gone to Germany, and this country has fulfilled its share appropriately.
Thus, the European Union has completed only two-thirds of its program, but still lags behind the commitments it has made.
The European Union intends to open a legal and safe pathway for refugees from dangerous areas to European countries.
By October next year, approximately 50,000 refugees from countries such as Libya, Ethiopia, Turkey, and Jordan will be heading to European countries. These individuals receive permission to enter European countries through representations of European countries in a secure and legal manner.
Germany, which has accepted 4,000 people under the aforementioned program so far, has announced its readiness to accept another 10,000 people.
Dmitris Avramopoulos, European Union Commissioner for Migration, Asylum and Integration, says that the goal of this program is to bring vulnerable people to Europe in a secure and legal manner.
The advantage of this program is that it curtails the hands of smugglers; it minimizes the dangers and hardships of travel to Europe for refugees, so that refugees no longer risk their lives and property for migration.
The European Union approved this program in 2017, in order to prevent illegal and deadly journeys through dangerous routes such as the Mediterranean Sea.
In implementing this program, European Union countries voluntarily admit refugees, and in return receive a total budget of 500 million euros (half a billion euros).
This program has been carried out with the support and coordination of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
