Shortage of at Least 270 Ambulances in Tehran

Peyman Sabrian, head of Tehran Emergency Services, spoke about safety and emergency standards in Tehran, saying: The city of Tehran, including the floating population and surrounding cities, has approximately 14 million residents, and based on international standards, we need one ambulance for every 20,000 people in the population, meaning Tehran should have approximately 500 ambulances. However, the number of ambulances in Tehran Emergency Services is only 230 vehicles, some of which are worn out and need replacement or renovation.

He said: According to standards, for every one million people in the population, one air ambulance helicopter should be operational, but currently instead of 14 helicopters, we only have two. Additionally, the number of emergency motorcycles should be between 400 and 500 vehicles, but currently this number is around 250 motorcycle ambulances.
