Three Prisoners Executed at Amol Prison

Hrana News Agency – Early this morning, Wednesday, May 18, 2022, the death sentences of three prisoners who were previously sentenced to execution on drug-related charges were carried out at Amol Prison.

According to Hrana News Agency, the news organization of the Iranian Human Rights Activists Movement, early this morning, Wednesday, May 18, 2022, three male prisoners were executed at Amol Prison.

The identities of these prisoners who were previously sentenced to execution on drug-related charges have been confirmed by Hrana as Farshad Nematzadeh, Mehdi Shircheyan, and Ishaqui.

These prisoners were transferred to solitary confinement cells at Amol Prison yesterday for execution of their sentences.

The execution of these prisoners has not been announced by domestic media outlets or official sources in Iran up to the time of this report’s preparation.

According to the annual report by the Statistics, Publications and Works Center of the Iranian Human Rights Activists Movement for the period from January 1, 2021 to December 20, 2021, at least 299 citizens were executed and 85 others were sentenced to death. Among those executed, four child offenders were executed.

According to the same report, more than 88 percent of executions carried out in Iran are not announced by the government or judicial authorities, which human rights organizations refer to as “secret” executions.
