Japanese Prepare to Halt Oil Imports from Iran

Japanese crude oil buyers are preparing to stop importing oil from Iran in October.
According to local media reports, Japanese refineries are concerned about the next round of U.S. sanctions against Iran, which will target Iran’s exports in addition to banks starting from November 5th.
President Trump, following his withdrawal from Iran’s nuclear agreement with world powers, announced the reimposition of U.S. sanctions against Iran and threatened countries and companies around the world that they will be subject to American sanctions if they conduct business with Iran.
According to Japanese domestic media reports, Japan has made significant efforts to obtain an exemption from the ban on importing oil from Iran but has so far been unable to secure Washington’s approval.
