Angola Bans Islam

Angola is the first country in the world to ban Islam as a religion and has closed all mosques in the country.
According to the Conservative Post, “José Eduardo dos Santos,” President of Angola, while explaining this measure stated: “The prohibition of Islam will put an end to the infiltration of this religion in our country.”
Rosa Cruz Silva, Angola’s Minister of Culture, referring to the fact that this action was taken based on fighting religious sects, emphasized: “Islam has not been approved by Angola’s Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, and therefore this religion and its followers have been declared illegal and all their mosques have been closed.”
Angola is a country with a population that is 95 percent Christian. According to information from the U.S. State Department, there are approximately 90,000 Muslims living in this country, the majority of whom are immigrants from West Africa and Lebanon.
