Transfer of political prisoner Hamzeh Darvish to death row
The latest reports on the condition of Sunni political prisoner Hamza Darwish indicate that he has been transferred to death row.
Hamzeh Darvish, a Sunni political prisoner, was sentenced to 18 years in prison by Branch 28 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, headed by Judge Moghiseh, on charges of propaganda against the regime and acting against the country's national security in 2014.
He was initially held in Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj, then transferred to Lakan Prison in Rasht. He was severely tortured and threatened in Lakan Prison in Rasht. In July 2010, Hamzeh went on a hunger strike to protest the failure to observe the principle of segregation of crimes and his detention among dangerous criminals, and to demand his return to Rajai Shahr Prison.
He also sent a message from prison to the Iranian people on the occasion of this day on 12 Bahman 1400, in which he wrote: "I am Hamza Darvish, 28 years old, a political prisoner in the central prison of Rasht-Gilan, and I have been in prison for 7 years now under the tyrannical regime and executioner of the Supreme Leader, led by the murderous Khamenei. A terrorist regime whose foundation is based on oppression, crime, and murder."
He also wrote: "During these 7 years of imprisonment, the meaning and concept that I have understood from the Velayat-e-Faqih regime is this: Velayat-e-Faqih means international terrorism, meaning oppression and oppression of religious minorities, imprisonment and execution of innocents, meaning an absolute dictatorship far from humanity, bloody and bloodthirsty, warmongering, divisive, promoting war and crime and unrestrained. Velayat-e-Faqih means anti-humanity, anti-freedom and anti-peace."
"The Velayat al-Faqih means 43 years of poverty and corruption, prostitution, murder, looting, plunder, theft, embezzlement, a Velayat that has destroyed the country's credibility and reputation in the international community."
Continuing his speech on the occasion of this day, Darvishi said: "It is the reality of society that Khamenei is an animal like a pig or a fox. I can guess the extent and intensity of his animal nature by seeing the experts from the Rasht Intelligence Department."
Hamza was horribly harassed, tortured, and threatened in solitary confinement as a result of his messages. He is serving his sentence in Lakan Prison without observing the principle of segregation of crimes, and is still banned from visiting others. A new case has been opened against him following a complaint filed by the Prisons Organization against him during a fight he had in prison in October 1401.
According to HRANA News Agency and a news report provided to this news agency by an informed source, Hamzeh was transferred to solitary confinement in Mehr 1401 (October 2022) after a verbal altercation with prison officials for not receiving leave. After seven months, he was transferred to Ward 8 (execution ward) in Lakan Prison in Rasht on Wednesday, May 10, last week.
Hamza Darwish continues to be denied visits, and his family has expressed concern about this issue and his transfer to death row.
