Iranians were the fourth largest group of immigrants to Germany in February.

Germany recorded 1.1 million new arrivals in 2015 and says the number will be even lower in 2016.

Syrians are the largest group of migrants to Germany, arriving in February this year, followed by Iraqis, Afghans, Iranians and Somalis, who make up the largest number of asylum seekers in Germany.

The German Interior Ministry said the number of new arrivals in Germany in February was 61,428, compared with 91,671 in January. The agency did not give a reason for the drop, but it may be partly due to Balkan countries blocking the passage of refugees trying to reach countries like Germany from their main source, Greece.
