Some of the duties of Christians in the chaotic situation in Iran

This article begins by asking two questions. Can prayer change the chaotic and critical conditions in Iran? Should we just pray or can we do other things? You will certainly encounter these questions by looking at Christian social media and talking to believers in Jesus Christ in church.

Today, there are so many articles and materials written about prayer and changing impossible circumstances that a simple Google search can provide access to a variety of resources about prayer.

The fact that people pray for Iran today does not mean that God is preparing for His will through the prayers of men, but that men themselves are preparing for God's will. Prayer is the only way to release the great power of God in chaotic circumstances and can break all the chains that Satan, in the name of religion, has tied to people. United prayer in Christianity is the key that opens the gates of heaven, locks the gates of hell, and nullifies the counsel of the wicked with the leaders of the government. A prayerless Christian is a failed Christian. A prayerless church is a failed church, and a prayerless nation is a failed nation. The question is, why pray? Because God answers.

The Word of God says in Matthew 18:18: "Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven."

God has empowered the church to take the initiative. He wants people to stop sitting around complaining about the situation in Iran and saying, "When is God going to change things?"

The prophet Elijah brought down the economy of a country with one prayer. This is power!!! When people pray, they should remember that they are talking to a God who is able to destroy the strongholds of addiction in Iran. He is able to destroy fornication, abortion, and any other act. He is the God who breaks the mighty cedars of Lebanon in two with his breath. All the waters of the earth are like a drop in the palm of his hand, and he knows the weight of all the mountains.

Given the above explanations, some questions arise that can be answered by referring to the Bible:

Can prayer change the chaotic and critical conditions in Iran, or can other things be done besides that?

Let's take a look at the great work of the prophet Elijah. The cruelty and oppression that King Ahab and his wife Jezebel inflicted on the people was unprecedented. It started with the worship of idols and other gods and Jezebel's hatred of the true God, and continued with the killing of innocents and wicked acts. During that time, many people were forced to hide in caves in order to survive, fearing for their lives.

In the book of 1 Kings, chapter 18, when the prophet Elijah stands before Ahab and the false prophets, he prays. He was aware of the power of God and his faith. In verses 36 and 37, he prays that God would hear his voice from heaven, perform a miracle, and destroy the system of oppression and tyranny so that everyone will know that there is only one true God. A God who stands against oppression and takes the sigh of the oppressed from the oppressor.

For example, the film “Walk with Me” (When War Comes to Your Home) shows how the Christian organization Iris Global serves refugees in South Sudan. In the war between South Sudan and North Sudan, which is all about power and political goals, many people have lost their lives. At one point, trucks carrying food from Uganda to Sudan are stopped due to the war and do not reach Sudan, which causes many children to die due to poverty and lack of food. At that time, a minister named “Mama Caroline” from America, guided by God, goes to serve a refugee camp in South Sudan and saves the lives of 150 children by teaching children to pray, worship and fast in the midst of war. This true documentary shows the power of prayer on the battlefield.

But what other things can be done?

  1. It should be the voice of the people of Iran. Today, a lot of news is published on social media and news channels. First of all, one should be sure of the accuracy of the news and not just publish the news, because everyone does it. Along with publishing the news, one should present the message of God's word and a verse or blessing from the Bible so that everyone knows that the hope of Christians is the living God. Believers in Christ, as the people of God, are the bearers of good news; therefore, it is necessary to present the good news of true freedom and salvation in addition to publishing the bitter news. Satan advances with fear and despair, and if people only convey disappointing news to each other, they have helped the world of darkness. The job of Christians is to deliver the good news and express true freedom so that people can move forward with new hope and unity.

2- Doctors or nurses can treat people who are injured with the help of God’s prayers and guidance. If they are on the streets and in gatherings, they should definitely have first aid kits with them to help their injured loved ones. Those who have vehicles should take the injured to a safe place if possible. All of these things should be done with God’s guidance so that no one gets into trouble. (To understand God’s guidance and hear His voice, you can refer to the articles on the Parsapsh website.)

3- Those who are outside Iran can also participate in the gatherings held in their cities to be the voice of their fellow Iranians. Also, if possible, they can send a letter or email to the governor, mayor, human rights organizations, and officials of their cities and inform them of the critical conditions in Iran. Although almost the entire world is now aware of these tragedies, this work can also be fruitful in exposing the evil deeds of the Islamic Republic.

In conclusion, it should be noted that it is better not to take any action without consulting God and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. One should pray to clarify the divine plan. The plan that God gives can have a great impact on the current situation.
And finally, our Christian prayer is that the light of Christ will shine upon Iran. Like Elijah, we pray that God will act, that all will know that there is only one true God and that the freedom He offers is unique and will not be lost.

"So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." John 8:36
