Hamburg court confirms designation of Islamic Center as "extremist Islamist" organization

The Hamburg Administrative Court has recognized the city's Islamic Center as an "extremist Islamist" organization.

Yesterday, Friday, June 30, 2023, the Hamburg court issued a ruling regarding the city's Islamic center, called the "Blue Mosque," in which the classification of the activities of this Islamic center as "extremist Islamist organizations" was confirmed.

In the past, the aforementioned Islamic Center had filed a complaint against the German Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution, which considered the Islamic Center's activities to be Islamic extremism. Following this complaint, the Hamburg Administrative Court issued its written ruling on the complaint after holding two oral hearings in April and May 2023.

According to reports from the German Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution, the association supporting the "Blue Mosque", which was described as an extremist Islamist organization, pursues unconstitutional goals, and also promotes anti-Semitism, spreads the ideology of the Islamic Republic, and spyes on Iranian citizens in exile.

The Islamic Center is considered by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution to be a base for the Iranian government in Europe and has been under surveillance for years, and local authorities in Hamburg last year expelled the center's deputy, Suleiman Mousavifar, for his close ties to terrorist organizations. Mousavi was also accused of supporting extremist and Shiite terrorist organizations and sharing propaganda videos to this end on Facebook.

It should be noted that, according to statements by German domestic authorities, in addition to the above-mentioned activities, Mousavifar was connected to two fundraising organizations that were in contact with representatives of Lebanese Hezbollah and paid tribute to Hezbollah's dead by sharing the organization's promotional videos and photos.

After resisting a court order to leave Germany (under the pretext of his children's education), he finally returned to Iran.
