Iranian Christians gather in Stockholm on the occasion of the World Day against the Death Penalty

Iranian Christians living in Stockholm gathered in front of the Swedish Parliament on the occasion of the World Day Against the Death Penalty.

According to videos posted on social media, on Tuesday, October 8, Christian Iranians living in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, gathered in front of the Swedish Parliament to mark the World Day Against the Death Penalty. The attendees, while referring to the executions carried out during the 1401 Iranian uprising and commemorating the victims, called for the abolition of the death penalty from Iran's judicial system with the slogan "We do not want a government of executions, we do not want one."

According to the statistics of recorded global executions last year, more than 75 percent of these executions were carried out in Iran. Kambiz Ghafouri, a journalist and member of the Iranian Human Rights Organization in Finland, said about the recorded global execution statistics, which show that more than 75 percent of these executions took place in Iran: “When the Islamic Republic feels it needs to incite terror and frighten people and carry out repression within the country, the number of executions increases.

During the uprising of Women, Life, Freedom, the number of executions also suddenly increased. Now, as we are under the shadow of the conflict between the Islamic Republic and Israel, it is trying to show an atmosphere of intimidation and an iron fist. According to statistics recorded on the website of the Iranian Human Rights Organization, 513 executions have been recorded in Iran from the beginning of 2024 to October 9, 2024, and this figure reached 516 in the past few hours from October 9 to 10 (today).

"This statistic is not just a number, but each of them is a human being. 516 people, and that in just 9 months and a few days, is a tragedy that the Islamic Republic takes the lives of these people, all of whom have families, and usually goes after victims without cost. A group whose voice is not heard anywhere, and the Islamic Republic is trying to instill fear by executing these people."

According to Kambir Ghafouri, political prisoners have been on hunger strike every Tuesday for about 37 weeks in protest against executions by the Islamic Republic, with over 150 prominent Iranian and international figures joining the prisoners in this protest.

It should be noted that these prisoners pay fees to protest and participate in the "No to Execution" campaign, which has now been 37 weeks since the campaign began, and the prisoners continue to participate in the campaign every Tuesday to spread the "No to Execution" protest to the entire world.
