Kish Choub workers rally to receive 14 months of unpaid wages

For the umpteenth time, workers at the Kish Choub factory held a protest rally demanding payment of at least 14 months of their arrears and Eid salaries for 2016.

According to the Iranian Labor News Agency, ILNA, the production unit has been suspended since October of last year. Protesting workers say that not only have the promises of the officials not been fulfilled, but also that a number of workers who participated in the protest rallies last year have been made unemployed under the pretext of contract expiration.

A manager at Kish Choob told ILNA that the factory was closed “due to the country’s economic situation,” but that it has now resumed operations. He promised that some of the workers’ demands will be paid soon, and that the laid-off workers will be reinstated to their previous jobs over time.

In recent days, a large number of workers from production units in different regions of Iran have gathered to receive their demands.
