Urmia Prison: A prisoner was transferred to solitary confinement to carry out the death sentence

HRANA News Agency – Today, Wednesday, June 25, a prisoner who had previously been sentenced to death for murder was transferred to solitary confinement in Urmia Prison to carry out his sentence.

According to HRANA News Agency, the news agency of the Human Rights Activists in Iran, today, Wednesday, June 23, 2023, a prisoner in Urmia Prison was transferred to solitary confinement to carry out his death sentence.

This prisoner had previously been sentenced to death on murder charges.

Further details in this regard, including the identity of this prisoner, are being investigated by HRANA.

According to the annual report of the Center for Statistics, Publications and Works of the Human Rights Activists' Association in Iran in 2022, 457 reports have been registered, including 92 people sentenced to death, including 6 sentenced in public, and 565 executed. Of these, 2 were executed in public. Also, 5 people who were under the age of 18 at the time of committing the alleged crime, and who are called child criminals in legal terminology, were also among those executed this year.
