Lapid: The Islamic Republic Regime is Destroying Iran from Within

The Israeli prime minister responded to his Iranian counterpart's tweet. Yair Lapid tweeted that "the regime's failed leadership is destroying Iran from within and the Iranian people must know that the Islamic Republic is the reason for their miserable lives."
The Jerusalem Post reports that it is not yet clear which comment by Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid has angered his Iranian counterpart. Lapid had said a day earlier that talks to revive the JCPOA were unlikely to yield a favorable outcome for Israel.
Lapid had said: "Our assessment is that Iran and the world powers are willing to revive the JCPOA, and it seems that this will happen soon."
The Israeli foreign minister added: “The prime minister, the defense minister and I have said that we are not against any agreement and that a good agreement is good. There are focused discussions going on about what a good agreement would entail. The world, including the parties to the negotiations, is listening. In our view, the Vienna talks will not achieve a desirable outcome for Israel, but we are constantly trying to improve the outcome for Israel with the help of those involved.”
In response to his Iranian counterpart, the Israeli Foreign Minister emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran is not capable of destroying Israel.
In response to his Israeli counterpart on his Twitter page, the Islamic Republic's Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, called Yair Lapid's statements "confused" and added that they were an example of the famous Iranian proverb that says: "A camel dreams of cotton seeds, and then it eats them one by one."
Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid wrote on Tuesday, January 4, in response to Amir Abdollahian's tweet: "The extremist Iranian regime threatens to destroy Israel, but as always, it will lose this battle. The regime's failed leadership is destroying Iran from within. The Iranian people must know that the I.A. is the reason for their miserable lives."
Lapid then added in this tweet: "In the words of the Iranian poet Saadi: The evil principle does not become good because its foundation is bad."
The Vienna nuclear talks aimed at returning Iran and the United States to the JCPOA agreement resumed on Monday, January 3, after a break of several days for the New Year.
The five nuclear powers that are permanent members of the United Nations Security Council have emphasized in a joint statement released on January 3 that they agree on preventing the further spread of nuclear weapons.
The five countries say they "deeply believe" that nuclear proliferation must be prevented and will participate in a meeting to be held this year, coordinated by France, to discuss it.
There is no victory in nuclear war.
Since the signing of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) in 1968, it has been rare for the five world powers that officially possess nuclear weapons to issue a joint statement.
The United States, Russia, China, Britain, and France have emphasized in their joint statement that a nuclear war will not be victorious and therefore should not be started.
The signatories of the declaration agree that, since the use of nuclear weapons has far-reaching consequences, such weapons “as long as they still exist” should be used only for “defensive purposes, deterring aggression and preventing war.”
In a joint statement, the five permanent members of the Security Council also emphasized their oversight role over the production and use of nuclear weapons and their obligations under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.
The Islamic Republic had stated that the success of these negotiations depended on meeting demands such as the complete lifting of sanctions, which the United States and European countries considered unacceptable.
Not long ago, Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia's representative in the Vienna talks, said that his country and China had convinced Iran to drop its maximum demands in order to achieve a revival of the JCPOA.
