Tehran Municipality sold "the building of the Vahid Company and a piece of land" for 1,600 billion Tomans to pay its employees' salaries

A member of the Tehran City Council said on Sunday, July 3, that Tehran Municipality has sold "a single company building and land for 1,600 billion tomans" to pay its employees' June salaries.
Habib Kashani predicted at the 75th city council meeting after Tehran Mayor Alireza Zakani presented a report that with the current process, "in the coming months, we will definitely sell Aftab City, the Citizen Building, and even the Hamshahri Institute."
Citing the Tehran Municipality's report on a "six trillion tomans" revenue deficit in the first two months of this year, he warned that if revenue is not earned during this crucial period, it will be impossible to implement the municipality's plans and projects.
Nasser Amani, another member of the Tehran City Council, criticized the "large volume and variety" of the programs presented after hearing Alireza Zakani's report, saying, "We expected them to report on performance, not present a program, and this made us think we were at a mayoral election meeting."
Since his controversial election as mayor of Tehran, Alireza Zakani has been criticized by the media and the opposition for his poor performance.
